Giving Back to Our Community: Month of Giving Event
This year BAFS hosted its first-ever Month of Giving event. I was overjoyed to be able to participate in the planning of this event, alongside BAFS’ Party Planning Committee, our Training and Development team, and Post Closing Specialist, Hillary Morgan.

What is the Month of Giving event?
The Month of Giving event is a month-long event that enables BAFS employees to give back to the community through donations of items that are needed in the community. The event also included fun Christmas events and costume themes in order to get in the holiday spirit.
What did the month consist of?
Toy Drive: November 27th – December 1st
During this week, in-person and remote employees alike banded together to donate toys to children in hospitals awaiting organ transplants. Our Toy Drive was something very special to us as we honored Hayes Crawford, Lisa Crawford’s (AVP/Office Administrator) late grandson.
Coat Drive: December 4th – December 8th
BAFS partnered with Grace Place Ministries for their annual Coat Drive throughout this week. The coats donated (plus other winter items such as scarves and gloves) were donated locally to those in need.
Food Drive: December 11th – December 15th
During the food drive, BAFS partnered with the Food Bank of NELA. Canned meats, rice, beans, canned vegetables/fruits, paper products, personal care items, and more were donated to the food bank.
Christmas Week Activities: December 18th – December 22nd
Monday: Christmas Movie Character Day
Tuesday: Sparkly and Bright Day
Wednesday: Ugly Christmas Sweater Day
Thursday: Red, Green, and White Day
Friday: Virtual Brunch and Hot Cocoa

Conclusion
The first BAFS Month of Giving event was a success! It was great for our team to come together to give back to our local community, and we got to have lots of festive fun, as well.
My favorite part of planning for the month of giving was getting to work with the Training and Development team. They are great to work with and have so much knowledge about involving remote employees, planning fun activities, and getting everyone involved. I also loved that one of charities was really close to heart and home in that it honored Mrs. Lisa’s (AVP/Office Administrator) late grandson, Hayes.
