In this Team Member spotlight, I spoke with Michael Peoples, VP/Credit Risk Manager at BAFS.
What is your position at BAFS?
VP/Credit Risk Manager.
How long have you worked at BAFS?
7 and a half years.
Where are you located?
Benton, Arkansas.
Tell me a bit about your prior experience, education, etc.
I have spent the last 13 years working in the banking industry with a focus on Credit Risk Management roles, such as Loan Review, Underwriting, and Consulting.
Do you have any commercial lending certifications?
Credit Risk Certified – CRC from RMA. The designation has helped me to expand my industry knowledge and provide our clients with the confidence that our services meet industry best practices and standards.
What does your day-to-day look like at BAFS?
My day starts with reviewing my emails and a morning meeting with the team. We discuss the status of our projects. From there, my day varies based on the client and project at hand. Typically, it involves reviewing commercial loan files and policies and procedures and writing and reviewing the client report. Oftentimes, my role includes the scheduling and coordination of reviews and client communications.
What is your favorite thing about working at BAFS?
I love reviewing credit risk! I have spent the last few years building a strong department and have been blessed with a wonderfully talented team!
What are three interesting things about you?
1) I have four boys.
2) I love to learn new things!
3) I enjoy building things and refinishing furniture.
